Space Travel Reality Show Partnered With NASA, Featured On Colbert
Yesterday, Deborah Sass and Thomas Reemer, the co-CEOs of Space Hero , signed a feasibility agreement with NASA, marking the 60 th anniversary of the first human in space, Yuri Gagarin. For two compassionate entrepreneurs, sending someone like you or me barreling through the atmosphere is their dream that is quickly becoming a reality. And Stephen Colbert featured the project on a segment he calls Space News last week.
Space Hero's story begins with Reemer, who was hawking a music show in Russia in 2008. One night, a powerful Czar took him out to dinner and pitched him on the lofty concept of a show that sends one winning civilian to space. After raising funds and building out the idea, the show was shelved as seats to the ISS were unavailable for private missions. A few years later, with the emergence of SpaceX and Boeing programs, seats became available once more, and Reemer revived the show.
Fast And Furious 9's Space Travel Avoids Its Biggest Mistake
The recently released trailer for F9 seems to confirm The Fast Saga is heading into space, but the franchise isn't taking the concept too seriously just yet. After being pushed back several times due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ninth installment of the adrenaline-inducing series is finally set to debut in June. According to the trailers, F9 will once again propel the plot to greater heights, figuratively and literally.
In true Fast & Furious fashion, F9 is set to feature a handful of wild mind-bending stunts. Among them is the presence of a rocket car made from a Pontiac Fiero, first shown in the first F9 trailer. The car can be seen driven by a distressed Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) as it races alongside some kind of jet. The existence of a rocket car initially spawned rumors, suggesting The Fast Saga was gearing up to explore uncharted territory: space.
Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin test flies rocket again to prepare for human passengers - The Washington
Blue Origin, the rocket venture founded by Amazon's Jeff Bezos, executed what it called an "astronaut rehearsal" Wednesday of its suborbital New Shepard rocket, launching the craft to the edge of space after having employees board as if they were going to travel with it, then disembarking before liftoff.
It was the second time this year that the rocket had launched successfully as Blue Origin prepares for what it hopes one day will be missions carrying paying passengers. The demonstration took place at Blue Origin's launch site in West Texas. (Bezos also owns The Washington Post.)
Dr. McCoy Sums Up My True Feelings About Space Travel
Back in the prime universe, we learn in The Motion Picture that Bones apparently left Starfleet after his five-year mission on the Enterprise and vowed never to return, that is, until he was essentially drafted back into service.
It’s easy to write off McCoy as just a cynical foil to the swashbuckling Captain Kirk and logical Mr. Spock, but I think he’s there to validate us more risk-averse fans — to say, “Hey, you’re not wrong in thinking this stuff is scary, because it is!” When Star Trek debuted in 1966, humans were only five years into spaceflight, which presented a very real and new danger to people.

Why the U.S. and China Should Collaborate in Space | Time
W hile much has been made of the tense March 18 exchange between American and Chinese diplomats in Anchorage, Alaska, one area became an unlikely candidate for cooperation: outer space. During a press conference after the meeting, Jake Sullivan, the U.S. National Security Advisor, pointed out that the Perseverance rover that recently landed on Mars “wasn’t just an American project. It had technology from multiple countries from Europe and other parts of the world.
Today, Sino-American space cooperation is similarly desirable. It could improve ties as it did for the U.S. and Russia, de-escalate an emerging Sino-Russian axis in space, and serve as a bargaining chip to help sustain other areas of cooperation. While China and the U.S. seem to clash on virtually every issue, space, by its nature, is different. Orbit isn’t a high-ground that one can seize.

NASA celebrates a huge milestone this week. On April 12, 1981, the Space Shuttle Columbia lifted off from launch pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Forty years later, the shuttle era is viewed as a mixed bag of triumph and tragedy.
I remember the moment when I heard about the loss of the Challenger orbiter and crew. I was in gym class, and the callous comments made by my classmates 35 years ago haunt me to this day.
Amazon employees are not treated like robots, says Jeff Bezos in final CEO letter
A mazon's chief executive Jeff Bezos has denied that the company treats its warehouse workers like "robots" in his final letter to shareholders.
The 57-year-old founder, who will step down to become executive chairman after June, said its staff are not subject to "unreasonable performance goals" and get proper breaks to rest and use the toilet.
However, he said that he takes no comfort in Amazon's recent victory over union organisers at its warehouse in Alabama , and that the shopping giant must give workers a better deal.
