Satellites orbiting close to Earth will be tested to see if they can handle mobile phone calls in bad weather as trials on potential replacements for Australia's ageing copper wire networks get under way.

Scyne Advisory, the former public sector consulting arm of PwC, has been appointed to run trials of voice calls using low earth orbit (LEO) satellites.

Hi. Since I graduated from college, I've been trying to find cool new interesting things to do. Creating special effects wins as my favorite.

REASON GONE MAD: Planets, planets, everywhere! - The Berkshire Edge

Last week, NASA announced that it passed 5,000 planets confirmed to exist outside our humble little solar system. Thanks to current and future space telescopes, the number of these so-called "exoplanets" is climbing fast, though it may take just a wee bit longer to identify all the estimated hundreds of billions of planets that are orbiting stars just here in our Milky Way — itself an average-sized ... AI-powered Robots Could Mean Job Losses On Farms And In Construction

Reference: Found here Headlines: There have been warnings for decades that robots could replace people working in manufacturing and agriculture. More recently, concerns have grown that artificial intelligence (AI) could do the same with some white-collar jobs. The use of robots has been growing, with 3.9 million of them ⁘operational⁘ in manufacturing around the world - 151 per 10,000 employees, double what it was 6 years ago - according to the International Federation of Robotics. The number could keep rising if enough AI-powered ⁘humanoid⁘ robots are produced, according to investment bank Morgan Stanley, which speculated that ⁘converging trends⁘ could see large language m...

Intuitive Machines Secures Funding For In-Space Nuclear Technology Development

By

Intuitive Machines, a company sister to X-energy, has secured funding to advance its in-space nuclear technology . This development builds upon a previous $9. 5 million award from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The company aims to overcome the limitations of solar power, which is currently the primary energy source for space missions. The harsh environments of space, such as the lunar night, pose significant challenges to solar power. Temperatures can drop to -129 degrees Celsius (-200 degrees Fahrenheit), making supplemental power systems necessary. These systems, including radioisotope thermoelectric generators or battery banks, add bulk, weight, and complexity to missions. Intuitive Machines is working on a Stirling-based power conversion system, which converts heat from a radioisotope source into electricity. The system has successfully completed a preliminary design review. With the new funding, the company will prepare the system for flight, marking a critical step...
