Two Planet Alignments Are Coming Up This Winter. Here's When To Look For Them.
It's a bit of a wait, but when this January and February roll around, stargazers will be in for some remarkable phenomena happening in the night sky, as a full planetary alignment , and a ⁘planet parade⁘ are forecasted to take place.
⁘Planetary alignment is an astronomical term used to describe the event when several planets gather closely on one side of the sun at the same time,⁘ Star Walk stated on its website. ⁘Planetary parade is a colloquial term that means, in the broadest sense, that several planets are present in the sky in one night.⁘
A full alignment of the planets can be seen on Jan. 21, 2025 when Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Venus and Saturn align, according to Star Walk.
But in a past interview with USA Today Network , Tim Brothers, Massachusetts Institute of Technology technical Instructor and observatory manager, said with any case of stargazing, it's much better if you're using a good telescope or a pair of binoculars.
