"Corn Moon" seems to have stuck, but some are using "Harvest Moon," "Barley Moon" and "Fruit Moon." What is always clear is that the Moon does change color—and it's something you can see very clearly on Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning and Wednesday evening this week if you know exactly when and where to look. Asteroid 2011 ES4 will pass much closer than the moon on September 1 | Space | EarthSky

Image
The orbit of asteroid 2011 ES4 is still not entirely known. Our knowledge of it might improve sometime today – or early tomorrow – if it is “recovered” by astronomers. It’s expected to pass within the moon’s orbit, possibly as close as 0.19 lunar distances. The orbit of asteroid 2011 ES4 (in white) is slightly similar to Earth’s (in blue) but inclined in relation to our planet’s orbit. The space rock completes an orbit around the sun every 416 days. It nearly intercepts our orbit on September 1, 2020, as seen in this illustration, via NASA/ JPL. Solving a Solar System Mystery With Ancient Star Explosion Evidence From the Deep Sea

Image
A mystery surrounding the space around our solar system is unfolding thanks to evidence of supernovae found in deep-sea sediments. Professor Anton Wallner, a nuclear physicist at ANU, led the study which shows the Earth has been traveling for the last 33,000 years through a cloud of faintly radioactive dust. “These clouds could be remnants of previous supernova explosions, a powerful and super bright explosion of a star,” Professor Wallner said. Can bacteria 'migrate' to other planets & survive?

Image
Researchers have previously found that the Deinococcus bacteria can float 12 km above the Earth. These bacteria are known to form colonies larger than 1 mm and are highly resistant to environmental hazards like UV radiation. The findings lend support to a theory called “panspermia”, which proposes that it is possible for microorganisms to travel through space, land on another planet and even multiply. More on CNN . For the first time, an artificial intelligence algorithm has discovered 50 new planets outside our solar system using data from NASA's planet-hunting space telescopes. Fortnite Hackers Earn $1 Million A Year—Stealing Your Skins

Image
How profitable, do I hear you ask? How does $1 million (£750,000) a year in stolen account sales sound? Sure, that's towards the top end, but criminals are making that kind of money, $25,000 (£19,000) a week, because of the value of stolen character skins. * * * It's not all plain-sailing for the would-be Fortnite hacker. Epic Games does, for example, limit the number of logins allowed per IP address to prevent such bulk automated account probing. But, Troia says, the hackers circumvent such barriers by paying for proxy rotation services, which can issue a new IP for every account checking request.
